 What a year 1955

Comments made in the year 1955

"I'll tell you one thing, if things keep going the way they are, it's going to be impossible to buy a week's groceries for $20."

"Have you seen the new cars coming out next year? It won't be long before $2000 will only buy a used one."

"If cigarettes keep going up in price, I'm going to quit. A quarter a pack is ridiculous."

"Did you hear the post office is thinking about charging a dime just to mail a letter?"

"If they raise the minimum wage to $1, nobody will be able to hire outside help at the store."

"When I first started driving, who would have thought gas would someday cost 29 cents a gallon Guess we'd be better off leaving the car in the garage."

"Kids today are impossible. Those duck tail hair cuts make it impossible to stay groomed. Next thing you know, boys will be wearing their hair as long as the girls."

"I'm afraid to send my kids to the movies any more. Ever since they let Clark Gable get by with saying 'damn' in 'Gone With The Wind,' it seems every new movie has either "hell" or "damn" in it.

"I read the other day where some scientist thinks it's possible to put a man on the moon by the end of the century They even have some fellows they call astronauts preparing for it down in Texas ."

"Did you see where some baseball player just signed a contract for $75,000 a year just to play ball? It wouldn't surprise me if someday they'll be making more than the president."

"I never thought I'd see the day all our kitchen appliances would be electric. They are even making electric typewriters now."

"It's too bad things are so tough nowadays. I see where a few married women are having to work to make ends meet."

"It won't be long before young couples are going to have to hire someone to watch their kids so they can both work."

"Marriage doesn't mean a thing any more; those Hollywood stars seem to be getting divorced at the drop of a hat."

"I'm just afraid the Volkswagen car is going to open the door to a whole lot of foreign business."

"Thank goodness I won't live to see the day when the Government takes half our income in taxes. I sometimes wonder if we are electing the best people to congress."

"The drive-in restaurant is convenient in nice weather, but I seriously doubt they will ever catch on."

"There is no sense going to Lincoln or Omaha anymore for a weekend. It costs nearly $15 a night to stay in a hotel."

"No one can afford to be sick any more; $35 a day in the hospital is too rich for my blood."

"If they think I'll pay 50 cents for a hair cut, forget it."

I have added more pictures to my gallery

Today I finally must thank pioneer for updating his hardware. Now I can upload pictures along with the rest of the blogstream. My first additions are of my daughter Jennifer Lynn Williamson and of my feet. Most people I'm sure are curious as to what I'm talking about when I mention my disability. These are taken by myself so I apologise for the quality of most of them.
The one of my daughter is the only one I have of her. I did have many more and over many moves they are gone.
If you were to go to the phone book it would seem as if Jennifer Williamson is among the most common names. If you know of a Jennifer Lynn Williamson could ask if she was born in Phoenix Az 1984? If so ask if she knows her biological father. You don't have divulge anything to me other than she is well. I do not want to complicate her life and my need to know her is not as great as her need for privacy.

 To Decorous

Well I guess you have found a family and I'm impressed at how you are adapting to your new life. Don't forget that I will always be concerned about your future and if at anytime you wish my opinion please ask. Angry, over what? You have your life to live and I at times get caught up in my life and forget to catch up. It took me awhile yet I'm not that brainless as of yet.
I shall keep you in my prayers that you adjust quickly to the rules of the house. You are such a remarkable young lady that I only hope as the years go by we can keep in touch. You are an and let no one say differently.TS

 Where were you?

This is going to be the most asked question over the next 24 hours. I remember be woken up by my room mate Mike as the second plane hit the tower. I was to see it was a replay of what had happened only moments earlier. Both of us watched the news all day stunned at what had just unfolded. We were under attack by what later will be called religious extreamist. My main thought that day was how could anyone pervert their God in such a way?
My living situation at the time was based on my stupidity and income. Yet at no time did I think of killing anyone. How come these people have it out for us still? Because we have yet to allow their tactics to scare us away. They have ruled their country based on thier perveted understanding of the Koran. I have met many people from that area of the world. They are kind for the most part and have accepted our laws.
When thinking about my actions over the last five years never once have I attacked how anyone chooses to live their life. In todays economy just surviving is a plus for me.
Tommorrow I will ask God to continue allowing me and the Country I call home to prosper. I hope and pray that I can be of help to my fellow man. To share what little I have gives me hope for a better tommorrow!
