Yes it's again on the news a handicapped individual pulls an 18 wheeler! Good for him, I understand the amount of time it took for him to accomplish this amazing feat. My question is why do we care? So that we can encourage others or so you can say to another individual look anything is possible.
I was one of those who kept on hearing about what other handicapped individuals accomplished. What about what I attempted for 30 yrs? I was never on the news as a high school wrestler. I won one match in two seasons of wrestling. No one lifted me on their shoulders and said good job. In fact I am the only one who even remembers this. I have hitchhiked accross the U.S. a number of times, this from a guy who once spent 52 weeks in Shriners Hospital and 12 years under there care.
Through out all my travels and jobs one thing was always made perfectly clear. Society does not like handicapped people, we make them nervous or something. It makes them have to work, not hard just that most jobs don't take all of ones attention and when someone forces them to step it up they get angry.
Now I am on disability, after making myself well by following the Drs. instructions I can't find work. I know I'm able yet no work. So before you say to a handicapped individual "look at what he accomplished" think about what he or she already has accomplished.
